BROKERS WALK THRU
A Super nice and in high demand Downeast style boat with low hours and in remarkable shape for a 2002 year model.
The pictures do not do the boat justice as the appointment ended up getting set up on a cloudy and gloomy day, but the seller wanted to get started ASAP. The next time I am out that way on a nice day I will get some better exterior shots and a walk thru video.
The seller(s) who are avid boaters for decades, purchased the boat in South Carolina and brought it by water to SW Florida. She road like a charm had a nice trip, but as weeks went by the couple decided extended trips and things of this nature were wonderful in the past, but father time has put a halt on future endeavors. They absolutely love the boat, but it is to large for a day boat.
There is a list of refurbishing the couple has done. There is nothing of note the boat actually needs that are not either completed or in the process of being completed in the next two weeks.
Serious inquiries are encouraged to act soon as there are other 28 Legacy's on the market asking more money, and they probably need more attention than this boat.
POWERBOAT REVIEW
With her graceful Downeast styling and quality New England construction, the Legacy 28 remains one of the most popular boats in her class. She rides on a modified-V hull with a short keel for good tracking and a flat aft section for stability and easy planing. With a wide 9'6" beam, the Legacy’s cockpit and helm deck combined offer seating for 8–10 passengers.
Visibility from the elevated helm is excellent (note the high windshield), and a center hatch in the helm deck sole provides access to the engine compartment. The Legacy’s side decks are on the narrow side, and a full-width bench seat aft precludes a transom door.
Below deck, the interior is clean and simple but extremely well finished. A convertible V-berth is forward, enclosed head/shower to starboard, and compact galley to port — good enough for a weekend cruise for two. The cabin has six feet of headroom and is finished in cherry joinery with a teak-and-holly sole. A teak swim platform was standard, and a bow thruster and teak transom was a popular option.
Cruise at 22–23 knots with a single Yanmar 315hp diesel (high 20s top). Over 100 Legacy 28s were built, all with diesel power
